Our film is a poignant tale, that at its heart, deals language on multiple levels. Centred on a mother and daughter, we navigate their grief and breakdown in communication. Here, our film treats language in an unexpected manner – via the loss in communication, we are faced with the absence of language. Their relationship is reconciled when both hear a song that has sentimental value – here we resurrect language with the antithesis of silence; music. And through the poignant lyrics of the song, it is language again that strikes a chord with our characters – making them realise the importance of communication, and their love for one another.
