My Story

Zhang Nan graduated from the London College of Communication, University of the Arts London, with a major in Film & TV Production. Following graduation, she returned to her hometown of Beijing and worked as a script supervisor for three years, and as an assistant director for one year. From 2019 to 2020, she attended advanced studies in the Directing Department of the renowned Beijing Film Academy.

Director Statement

The inspiration for Aquatic Bird comes from a little adventure in Paris. While walking in the streets of the Le Marais District in the middle of the night, I suddenly saw a green dot shine on the ground in front of me. Raising my head, I realized it was coming from a laser pen in one of the apartments above. I began to play with the green dot, chasing it around, hoping to bring some warmth to the bored people above.
