China Feature Film: The Vacation Show | 中国故事片《仙女鸟飞过的夏天》

Zhou Jingran’s ideal summer vacation was to stay in a luxurious hotel, enjoying the blue sea and sky with unlimited gaming time alongside his friends. However, reality proved to be cruel as his mother took matters into her own hands, forcing him to bring along his younger sister Zhou Juruan and their “archenemy” cousin Shao Yuxuan to their grandmother’s house, where they would spend the entire summer.

Their grandmother’s house was located in Mantang Dawei, Shixing County, Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province. The ancient architectural complex housed the entire village, and within its weathered walls were hidden intriguing legends and magical stories. However, for Zhou Jingran and his siblings, who had grown up in the city, the old houses and the surrounding walls were gloomy and dilapidated, making life inconvenient. Their strict uncle, Guan Shuhong, not only forbade them from using any electronic devices but also forced them to work in the rice noodle factory he managed day and night. Faced with a series of setbacks and hardships, the children, who were already reluctant to spend their summer in the countryside, entertained thoughts of running away.

However, they never anticipated that the adventure had yet to begin when they found themselves trapped in a cleverly designed trap set by the adults.

Betrayed by his own mother, Zhou Jingran made up his mind to confront this unfair reality in his own way.
