The epic story of 1986 expeditions from the USA and China attempting to be first to conquer the unexplored Yangtze river. This documentary was originally planned as a USA-China co-production, however, the Chinese government canceled approval, as ten Chinese adventure athletes lost there lives on the river.

The production team proceeded “gorilla style” to complete the film, which includes never before seen film of the expeditions, interviews with surviving team members and a new expedition on the river.
