In Singapore, a gullible Jesse yells into the ocean in hopes of communicating with his older brother Ben, who lives in Los Angeles. His mother Pam waits patiently, frustrated at Ben’s constant tricks. Finally, Pam manages to get Jesse to return home. However, Ben has made another lie, convincing Jesse that if he flew a paper plane to him, he would fly one back. Jesse sets off to fold a perfect paper plane that could make it to Los Angeles. Pam calls Ben, angry that he won’t just pick up the phone and talk to Jesse, angrier that Ben refuses to come home despite the pandemic. Jesse overhears the fight, frightened, quickly retreats back into his room. As Ben and Pam’s fight end, Pam is left upset and hurt, and Ben guilty and regretful. Jesse brings Pam onto the rooftop, and together, despite knowing that it won’t work, they throw paper planes in hopes that it will reach Los Angeles. Ben, wanting to make amends, folds a beautiful plane, and throws it out the window. The plane travels through multiple different countries and finally lands in Singapore, next to a sleeping Jesse.
